  • First post of the college adventure...

So.... college classes start tomorrow and I'm freaking out a little bit. It feels soooo weird to be in college! Even more so to actually having classes tomorrow!

I have to say though, I love it here at State.... most of the time. The Carolina jokes are a little painful.... but it's no big deal.

I love this place, and I'm honestly very happy to be here. There's a plan out there for me somewhere and I'm looking forward to finding it! :)

  • THE Letter.

I got THE Letter today. The one from UNC. When I saw it in my mailbox I didn't know what to think.

I wanted it to be an acceptance letter, but I also wanted it to be a letter saying that I didn't make it. I've gotten really excited about going to State. I've made friends with people that will be in my dorm already. I've joined groups on facebook. I have State shirts, and I don't have as much of an aversion to the color to red.

    Guess what THE Letter said.......

It was a letter letting me know that the freshman class of 2013 at UNC was full, and unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky few that was taken off of the waiting list. THE Letter went on to say that they were sorry that I wasn't chosen and wished me luck at whatever college I went to. They mentioned the fact that I had so many family connections to the school. If you name a family member of mine, there is a VERY strong chance that they went there.

After I read THE Letter, I sat in my car for a few minutes, not exactly sure of what I thought and felt. But, as I sat there, I realized that I wasn't sad. I started to feel a wave of relief wash over me. I finally didn't have to worry about deciding where I wanted to go.

I wouldn't have to make the hard decision of whether I should go to my dream school that crushed me, or go to my "not so" dream school that had started to become my dream school.

So, now I'm officially going to State, and I'm ok with it. In fact, I'm super excited and can't wait! I want to meet my roommate, and all the people I've met on facebook.

I will always love UNC, but I'm starting to like State.

    I can't wait!

  • CARLITO!!!

Today was a normal day in French. We were studying foods and learning different utensils. We were looking at a slideshow that my teacher made so we could study our words. Everything was great, until......

    "There's a dog in here."

Someone looked over to the door and noticed a dog walking into our open door. At first, not everyone could see it because the classroom is small, but then the dog came to the front of the room. (This was in the modulars by the way. There's about ten classrooms in trailers outside, so it's really easy for the dog to get in there. He just had to walk up some steps!)

He was HUGE! He looked like a german shepherd/lab mix to me. A few girls screamed and just about everyone jumped! We had NO IDEA what he was going to do.

He walked up to our teacher looked at him, and sat down begging to have his ears scratched. This big, scary, mean looking dog was just looking for attention!

He sat there for a few seconds while our teacher scratched his head and then the entire class room erupted into laughter! It was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life!

The dog's name is Carlito and apparently his owner lives down the road from our school. Carlito likes to come to the school to visit with the students and have fun. I've seen him in the parking lot after-school before, but I've NEVER seen him walk into a class! But, according to my French teacher he does it all the time!

My teacher got the dog back outside, closed the door to our room, and called the office. He let them know that Carlito was back. "Yes, we know. Thank you." was all they said. We looked out the door and saw a few kids running through the hallway so I guess they were chasing him down. We laughed a little bit more and then finished class.

As I was leaving the modulars, I was going down the steps and looked over to see the Spanish teacher and her intern holding Carlito back. He wanted to play with us so badly! I assumed that was the last I would hear or see of Carlito today.

    I was wrong.

In third period, I got a text from a friend who had Spanish out in the modulars. "The dog came back!" Carlito had gone into her class this time! What a funny dog!

He also apparently walked into fourth lunch. Another one of my friends said he just walked into the cafeteria which must have been harder to do, because the cafeteria is in the school!

What an awesome dog! If i ever get another dog I think I'll name it Carlito!!

  • Picture Phun!

Today, when I got into my car, I checked my trip meter in my car, like I always do. I noticed that the number was really cool looking... it was 133.4.

This is what it looked like:

    It said HEEL!! SWEET! :)

Oh and then here's a doodle I did yesterday..... I don't remember what the actual Coraline logo looked like, but I just sorta' doodled it... it makes me happy!

    yay Post-It Notes!! haha
